What It Is

Build Your Own Scrape System gives you everything needed to create a complete deer communication hub in one customizable package.

Every system begins with one of our 40-inch Pre-Worked Scrape Ropes. Each rope hangs in a mature buck pen for 2–3 weeks, where it is worked by multiple bucks and exposed to their natural preorbital scent. It is then vacuum-sealed for freshness and arrives ready to hang.

Choose the bead scent and scent stick that best fit your hunting strategy, location and time of season.

Why It Works

Deer communicate through scrapes, licking branches, rubs and scent. The pre-worked rope introduces authentic buck scent, while your selected beads and scent stick help create a layered scent system that encourages deer to investigate the area and return.

Instead of relying on one scent alone, you are creating a complete communication hub that can be customized for your hunting property and the current phase of the season.

How to Use Your System

1. First, choose your location. Find an existing scrape or choose a spot along a deer trail, field edge or other area deer naturally travel. Keep the setup away from your stand and away from the path you use to enter and leave.
2. Next, hang the rope. Use the two included nylon zip ties to secure the rope to a sturdy branch. Position the working end of the rope approximately 5 feet above the ground—about chest height.
3. Then, add the beads. Pour approximately one-third of the jar into the scrape directly beneath the rope. Save the remaining two-thirds to refresh the scrape later or use inside the included drag bag.
4. After that, apply the scent stick. Rub the scent stick directly onto rough tree bark, the licking branch, nearby brush or other natural surfaces around the scrape. A few visible swipes are enough. You do not need to cover the entire tree.
5. Later, refresh when activity slows. If deer activity begins to taper off, rub the scent stick directly onto the pre-worked rope and add more beads beneath it. You do not need to use the entire jar at once.
6. When finished, use the drag bag safely. Place some of the reserved beads inside the provided drag bag. Create a short scent trail that ends at the scrape—not at your hunting stand. Remove the drag bag or hang it near the scrape when finished.
7. Finally, position your trail camera. Aim your trail camera toward both the rope and the scrape. Make sure it can capture how deer approach, investigate and use the entire system.

Important Safety Information

Do not apply the scent stick or beads to your boots, clothing, hunting stand or personal equipment. Never create a scent trail that leads directly to where you will be sitting.
